Huff Quickest In Wet First Practice Session In Brazil

1 Mins read

Rob Huff topped the timesheets in the first practice session on a wet Curitiba circuit. The Chevrolet driver posted a fastest time of 1m33.507 early in the session that nobody could match in the damp conditions.

SUNRED SEAT drivers Gabriele Tarquini and Tiago Monteiro were second and third quickest. Alain Menu and Yvan Muller were next up for Chevrolet, both within three tenths of Huff.

Michel Nykjaer was the top Independent, sixth in his SUNRED SEAT, with local star Caca Bueno seventh in the fourth Chevrolet Cruze, just over half a second back from Huff.

There was quite a gap back to the Kristian Poulsen in eighth, just over a second off the pace. The Engstler driver beat Friday pacesetter Tom Coronel to be the top BMW in the session – the rear-wheel drive cars struggling in the wet. Robert Dahlgren rounded out the top ten in the Polestar Volvo.

All 20 cars were able to take part in the session, including Alexei Dudukalo, whose SEAT was rebuilt by the SUNRED mechanics after his heavy crash in Friday's shakedown, and Javier Villa, who was finally able to set his first lap times in the Proteam BMW having had mechanical issues on Friday.
