Bertolini Takes Superstars Pole In Valencia

1 Mins read

Andrea Bertolini gave the Swiss Team Maserati Quattroporte its maiden pole position in a rain-affected International Superstars Series qualifying session at Valencia's Circuit Ricardo Tormo.

The top spot changed hands several times during the session, with Audi Sport Italia's Ermanno Dionisio, BMW Team Italia driver Stefano Gabellini and Fabrizio Armetta (Motorzone Chevrolet) all taking turns at the head of the timesheets.

At the end of the session though it was Bertolini who was on top, with a time nearly a second quicker than anybody else. Luigi Ferrara was second in his CAAL Racing Mercedes, with Armetta third. Max Pigoli was fourth in his Romeo Ferraris Mercedes, with Gabellini fifth.

Sergio Hernandez gave Campos Racing a strong grid position by ending the session sixth. His teammate Isaac Tutumlu was eighth, the Spanish pair sandwiching Dionisio. Reigning champion Thomas Biagi was ninth, with Audi's Riccardo Bossi tenth. Johnny Herbert was eleventh, with championship leader Michela Cerruti down in 13th.
