Ed Jones Makes Euro F3 Switch

1 Mins read

Former Formula Renault UK driver Ed Jones has become the latest driver to sign up for the 2013 Euro F3 Open.

17 year old Jones switches to Formula 3 after two years of Formula Renault 2.0 action. The Emiratee driver ran part-campaigns in the UK and Eurocup series in 2011, alongside a season in the Intersteps series, before making a full assault on the Eurocup this season alongside some appearances in the Northern European Cup.

Jones ended his 2012 season with a guest appearance in the final round of the 2012 Euro F3 Open, picking up a podium finish on his debut weekend. Jones ran with Team West-Tec then and has re-signed with them for the 2013 campaign, running a Dallara F312 in the series’ main class.

“I really enjoyed my introduction to Formula 3 at the end of 2012 and I am very pleased to be returning in 2013,” said Jones. “Our aim will be to fight for the title, and I am sure we can do that as I really enjoy driving the Dallara F312 car and have West-Tec’s experience and guidance behind me.”

“I am delighted to welcome Ed back to the team, and I know everyone on the team is excited at the news,” added team co-owner John Miller. “Ed made a really positive impact at the end of 2012 and I am certain he is going to be right at the front in 2013. He is a quick driver, technically able and a pleasure to have on the team.”

Jones is the third driver announced by Corby-based Team West-Tec for 2013, with British racers Cameron Twynham and Sean Walkinshaw also confirmed to be competing in Dallara F308s.
