Solid Start For Raikkonen In WRC

1 Mins read

Kimi Raikkonen has started his WRC debut with a solid performance finishing the Friday morning in 19th place overall in Rally Finland.

The 2007 F1 champion set the 20th fastest time last night on SS1 and has continued to push forward on the second day.

With five stages completed Kimi is currently 19th place overall (sixth among the Super 2000/Production specification cars), with the last stage (SS5) being only 1.2 seconds faster than team mate and rising star Anton Alen.

Raikkonen’s co-driver Kaj Lindstrom is impressed by the performance he is putting in, after commenting on SS5 saying “This one was perfect,”

“He started the day a little bit frosty [on SS2] but he was there on SS3 and was going even better on Mokkipera until we missed a junction. This last one was perfect. I think we’re going to be fine!” he added.

Overall Mikko Hirvonen is leading the rally by 3.6 seconds over defending champion Sebastien Loeb.
