The two McLaren-Mercedes topped the times in the first practice session of the Italian Grand Prix ahead of Adrian Sutil in the Force India and Fernando Alonso’ Renault.
Giancarlo Fisichella had a solid start to his Ferrari career finishing in eighth place, two places ahead of team-mate Raikkonen albeit on soft tyres.
Liuzzi marked his F1 return with sixteenth place, 1.218 seconds behind his Force India team-mate.
It was a pretty uneventful session with the biggest worry being Toyota’s Timo Glock spinning after taking on the new high kerbs of the first chicane.
