2010 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholarship winner Euan Hankey has signed a contract to race with Team Parker Racing, the team that took Tim Bridgman to the 2009 title.
With previous experience in single seaters up to and including Formula 3 the 22-year old won the £50,000 Carrera Cup GB Scholarship and is set to make the switch to GT Racing.
With testing due to start mid-February the Taunton based driver said that the passion within Team Parker was a key factor to his decision to join them.
“I could tell from talking to Stuart Parker and the team that the passion was there and I think it will be a very good relationship,” said Hankey. “They won the championship last year and that’s really, really important; I’ve got all of Tim Bridgman’s data to work with. They ticked all the boxes for me and the team’s history speaks for itself.”
Hankey will join 19-year old Scotsman Glynn Geddie at the Parker squad and is not afraid to have some friendly competition. “It’s always good to have a strong team mate to spur you on,” he said. “Glynn will be a great benchmark to feed off and to learn from.”
Stuart Parker said: “Drivers switching to the Carrera Cup from single-seaters have a history of doing particularly well. I think Euan’s background will only assist him. I look forward to working with Euan and getting him right onto the pace.
“Along with Glynn Geddie, it gives us a really young team and that is fantastic for us. Euan and Glynn are already starting to build a relationship and I hope they’ll push each other on. I want to see them both winning races and challenging for the title.”
