On the Porsche stand at the Autosport Show, team boss David Bartrum confirmed that the team is to run a record breaking six cars in the 2010 Porsche Carerra Cup GB Championship, 2 in the Pro catagory, 2 in Pro-Am 1 and 2 in pro-Am 2. This is the biggest ever team in the 8 year history of the Championship. It will take some careful planning by the team to ensure this works.
Team boss David Bartrum has confirmed 4 of the teams 6 drivers, and which catagories they are to compete in.
Bartrum commented on the teams announcement:
“We’re set for a busy year and this is a fantastic opportunity for Motorbase to really establish itself in the Carrera Cup,”
The drivers which have been confirmed to race for Motorbase in 2010 are:
- Ollie Jackson, Pro-Am 1 – finished all 20 races in 2009, improved as the season progressed, and took podiums by the end of the season.
- Liam Griffin, Pro-Am 1 – former VW Cup racer, front runner in the series. Ran strongly on his Porsche Carerra Cup GB debut at Silverstone.
- Steve Parish, Pro-Am 2 – Won on his PA2 debut at Rockingham, the team reckon Parish will challange for the Pro-Am 2 title.
- George Richardson, Pro-Am 2 – former Ginetta Junior racer, saw his 2009 campaign cut short by budget problems. Will be 18 when the season finishes in October. Team reckon Richardson will be a Pro-Am 2 title contender.
The drivers of the Pro cars will be announced shortly.
David Bartrum said about the team set up and driver line up: “We’ve got two strong teams and the right people to engineer the cars. We’ve got a good mix of drivers across the team; they are all at different stages of their careers.”
