Porsche stars team up for charity kart race

Michael Meadows and Euan Hankey, the winners of the 2010 Porsche Carerra Cup GB Scholarship funds had their first races of 2010 at the Autosport Show.

Racing alongside the two Porsche stars were GP2 driver Sam Bird, upcoming Formula Ford racer Josh Benson, Tio Ellinas and Andrew Fearly, representing the Adidas brand team for the 90 minute charity karting event.

The Charity event, which will be shown on Sky Sports around the 27th or 28th January, while Motors TV will show it on the 13th February.

Organised by Racing4Charity in aid of 'Malaria No More UK', the race attracted some big names over 28 teams, including Le Mans winners David Brabham, Allan McNish and Guy Smith, along with ex-F1 stars Alex Wurz, Anthony Davidson and Emanuele Pirro. Five times Le Mans winner David Bell was the celebrity race director.

The Adidas squad led for most of the event before dropping down to sixth place after a late pitstop.

Michael Meadows enjoyed the event and said “It was great fun. It was good to lead for a long time and it was really enjoyable to be battling with some very big names from racing.”
