Motorbase finalise 2010 Porsche Carerra Cup GB Line up

2 Mins read

Porsche Carerra Cup GB Front runners and 2010 record breakers Motorbase Performance have announced their Pro drivers for the 2010 Campaign.

The Wrotham based squad have signed Michael Caine and Charles Bateman for their attack on the Pro category, and they will partner Ollie Jackson, Liam Griffin, Steve Parish and George Richardson in a 6 car assault on the Championship – a series record.

Michael, a series regular and a title contender in the last 3 years, has said his primary target is to win the overall title, after finishing fourth, second and fourth in the last 3 years. Michael said this about the deal: “I want to win it and that’s do-able, I’ve won at nearly every circuit and I just need to string it all together.”

Michael, who comes from Newmarket, is the more experienced driver within the Motorbase ranks and will be acting as a mentor to the other drivers, and commented on this by saying: “I’ll be working with all five of the guys to get them all up there. We need to go forward as a collective.”

David Bartrum is delighted to have secured Michael's services for the season, and is delighted to have him as a team leader, and said: “Michael works very hard for the team behind the scenes and we believe he has the potential to win the championship, I really want Motorbase to win the overall drivers’ title.”

Charles is a new addition to the Motorbase squad, but has Porsche Carerra Cup experience, having raced for Jota Sport in 2008, where he finished 8th overall, the same as he did in 2007. He missed most of the 2009 campaign but was out at Knockhill, where he took a fourth place. Boston based Bateman said this about joining Motorbase: “We had a good result at Knockhill and I want to build on that, I’ve been training hard over the winter, both mentally and physically and I’m looking forward to working with the Motorbase team. Podiums and race wins are the aim.”

David Bartrum also believes that Charles can get his maiden win, and said: “We want to get Charles his first Carrera Cup win and we want to do that as soon as possible. I’m very pleased with the team we’ve put together; it’s going to be a great season.”

The 2010 Porsche Carerra Cup GB Campaign starts in Hampshire, at the fast, flowing Thruxton circuit over the weekend of the 3rd and 4th April.
