BMW Sauber could not take advantage of mostly sunny conditions in Jerez due to a problem with the fuel system, which restricted Kamui Kobayashi to just 28 laps today.
The team's new Japanese driver was still positive at the end of the day, and looks forward to more good weather tomorrow. “It was obviously not a perfect day, but I prefer to have a technical problem now rather than in the first race. Although I could only complete a limited number of laps, we learned a few things on which we can build tomorrow.”
Thomas Hunsicker, the team's test engineer, is also hopeful for a trouble free day tomorrow. “The conditions were good today, but unfortunately we weren't able to make the best use of them. We lost a lot of time with a fuel system problem. However, the weather forecast is fine for tomorrow, so we should still be able to complete the main part of our planned programme for this test.”
Kobayashi returns to the wheel of the BMW Sauber C29 for the final day of testing in Jerez tomorrow.
