Shelley returns to Porsche Carerra Cup GB

1 Mins read

6 years after his last race in the Porsche Carerra Cup GB, Andrew Shelley has signed up with front runners Red Line Racing to compete alongside Michael Meadows and Archie Hamilton in the 2010 Porsche Carerra Cup GB Championship.

Shelley, who started his Porsches career with Red Line Racing 12 years ago, last raced in the Carerra Cup in 2004, before moving on to the FIA GT3 Championship at the wheel of a Porsche 911GT3RS in 2008.

2009 saw Shelley take a year out of racing, and Andrew is excited for his full time return to the Championship. Andrew said this about his return: “I had a year out and I really missed the racing, The Carrera Cup is the most level playing field out there; it’s proper competition and it is very well policed. There are some very good drivers out there. I’m a reasonable amateur and it will be great to race against some top drivers.”

Shelley has always had a deep respect for Red Line Racing, as they helped him at the start of his career, and he said:  “I’ve always had a great respect for Simon Leonard and the team.”

Simon Leonard is also delighted to have the next driver for his multi car team agreed, with Michael Meadows and Archie Hamilton settled into the Cleveland based team and commented: “We’re delighted to have Andrew back in the team; he’s a real team player, He’s going to race in pro-am1 and he will be a serious contender.”
