Archie Hamilton left Brands Hatch in a happy mood after taking his first podium in only his third race weekend.
The pro-am1 driver qualified an excellent fourth in class as he improved by half a second over his practice times. These positions could of been better if it wasn’t for being in the wrong place at the wrong time with traffic out on track.
As the torrential rain came down for the opening race of the weekend Hamilton drove a safe and solid race, keeping the car on the track as others around him suffered. Following a great start Hamilton was second in class by lap three.
Over the course of the race Hamilton would be kept under pressure by team-mate Ahmad Al Harthy and class leader Ollie Jackson. Hamilton would cross the line tenth on track but second in class to secure his maiden podium appearance.
“I'm really happy. It's brilliant to get my first podium – for me and the team. We can only go forwards from here.” said Hamilton after the race.
Race two would see another wet race with Hamilton battling for third place in the early stages of the race before being pushed on to the grass, losing momentum and droping him back to sixth in class. Before the chequered flag would fall Hamilton would make up one more place to take eleventh over all and fifth in class.
