Karl Leonard To Make Knockhill Return

1 Mins read

Karl Leonard will make his Porsche Carrera Cup GB return this weekend as the BTCC support series heads to Scotland and the Knockhill circuit.

The Irish racer will be competing in a one off appearence for the first time since the end of the 2009 season in the car normally raced by his elder brother Michael for Team Parker Racing.

“I haven’t raced for 10 months, so it will be interesting,” said the 33-year old. “It will be the first time I’ve been in a pro-am1 car that is capable of running at the front. I’m looking forward to being in the pro-am 1 car with the extra power against the pro-am2 car I raced last year.”

Having only taken part in a few track days this year he it keen to get back on the race track.“I raced at Knockhill three years ago in Irish Supercars and had a win and a second place, so I have some experience of the track.

“I’m not sure what I would like to achieve but I do know the times will be close. So if I can hook up qualifying, then a good result is possible. It’s all about qualifying around Knockhill,” he finished.

Take a look at the video below for a glimpse of Leonard’s brilliant performance at Oulton Park in 2009.
