Reigning Champion To Make Return In China

1 Mins read

Superleague Formula will welcome the return of reigning champion Adrian Vallés for the next round of the series in Ordos, China. The 24 year old Spaniard will take to wheel of the Sporting Lisbon car prepared by Madrid based De Villota Motorsport for the remaining three races of the season.

Vallés, a former F1 test drive for Spyker, took the Superleague title last year for the Liverpool team after a hard fought season long battle with current championship contender Craig Dolby. He also took fourth place in the 2008 championship for the premier league team so is not short on experience.

Having taken four career victories and a further six podiums in the football based series, Vallés is sure to be challenging amongst the front runners and will be looking to get his hands on one or two large cheques awarded in the Super Finals.

Speaking out about his delight of returning to the spectacular series, Adrián Vallés said: “I'm very excited to be taking part in Superleague Formula again! After winning the 2009 championship with Liverpool I had an opportunity to go into F1, but that dream didn't become reality. Despite this disappointment, I continued training and now I can say that I'm in the same physical condition as last year. I'm very pleased to be driving with a Spanish racing team (De Villota Motorsport) and this opportunity will be a big adventure. I'm also looking forward to going to China and Navarra. It'll be great to finish the season at a Spanish circuit because lots of Spaniards will be there to support us.”

Superleague Formula Competition Director, Robin Webb, was also pleased to see the return of Vallés as he told the media, “We're delighted to welcome Adrián Vallés back to Superleague Formula for our first-ever trip to China in what looks set to be one of the strongest grids in our three-year history. During his two years with us, Adrián showed what a talented and professional driver he is and I'm sure he's looking forward to mixing it at the front of the field with the title contenders in Ordos.”

Round Ten of the Superleague Formula will take place in China at the new Ordos circuit over the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd of October.
