As the clock struck 2:30am, and with the paddock just receiving news about the Rollcentre Mosler's retirement, another class one car bowed out from what has been an epic clash. The Aquilla CR1 in the hands of Kelvin Burt had a significant off at Bridge, caused by a stuck throttle. Burt bravely got the Aquilla back to the pits, but to no avail. The Aquilla that was so supremely quick only seven hours earlier retired soon after re-joining, in a lowly fourty seventh position, seventy laps off the pace.
At the head of the field, the class two, Jet Alliance Porsche marched on and right behind it, the class one MJC Ferrari kept within forty seconds of its rival. Its a thrilling battle that sees Seefried in the Porsche match Gaw's pace lap by lap. Third placed overall for the entire hour was the number 42 Neil Garner Motorsport Porsche. Jay Shepherd got his head down and made light work of a monsterous three hour stint.
Elsewhere it was pitstops a plenty, with the remaining Seat's pitting and Archie Hamilton taking over from Richard Kent at 3:15am. Despite the loss of the Rollcentre Mosler, Topcat were upholding the brand moving up to sixth after a pitstop. The Eclipse Moslerwas running 40th – 2 laps behind the 39th placed GT4 Aston of Barrowman, but began to pick up speed after Keen got back into the car.
Speedworks' Emily Fletcher got quickly into her stride, taking two place and having a scrappy dice with the number 99 MG. Laps later, Fletcher makes up over fifteen seconds and snatches back 36th before pitting for fuel.
Seconds later, Ian Donaldson went off at Vale and beaches the BMW M3 in the perilously deep gravel trap. Marshals did attempt to help Donaldson, but the BMW could not be shifted.
Jota Aston Martin pitted late in the hour; Sam Hancock using his allocation of hours for the stint while stuck behind the earlier safety car.
After a gearbox change earlier in the day and having spent over 80 laps in the pits, the Evora came in again, for another gearbox – an expensive day and not a dream outing for potential new customers.
