Jess Gwynne is set to move up to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB for 2011 after contesting in the UK National Legends Championship in 2010.
The Brackley-based 18-year old is currently in advanced discussions with championship newcomers 2XP Racing.
After finishing fourth in the Legends rookie section Gwynne has taken the decision to step things up after being behind the wheel since the age of four in various motorsport disciplines including World Rally Cars, Junior Rallycross, RX racing buggies and more recently Legends. On her way to take fourth in the rookie section she won both the ‘driver of the Day’ and ‘best rookie driver’ awards at various races.
“I’m very proud of the opportunity to race the Porsche this season,” said Gwynne. “I don't plan to make up the numbers, so will work hard, learn and not just be the token female! My aim is to be mid-pack by mid-season and then be challenging for points where I can.”
Gwynne has already attracted the attention of some major financial backers and is currently working hard with her management to finalise her 2011 plans.
