Lotus Renault GP have tonight announced that Nick Heidfeld and Bruno Senna will replace Robert Kubica at the second pre-season test in Jerez, which begins tomorrow.
Vitaly Petrov will be in the car for the first two days of the four-day test, with Heidfeld and Senna being given testing mileage in the R31 on Saturday and Sunday.
Both Heidfeld and Senna are being considered, alongside former Force India driver Tonio Liuzzi, as possible replacements for Kubica in the races that the Pole will miss in 2011.
The team have today reported that Kubica’s ‘general condition has once again improved’. He will undergo further surgery on fractures to his right shoulder and right foot tomorrow, and is expected to remain at the Santa Corona Hospital for a further two or three weeks.
