Nico Rosberg set the fastest lap on Day 3 of the Barcelona test and, in completing 92 laps today, brings his total tally for this test session to 223.
Rosberg’s time of 1:23.168 is the fastest of the test session so far and the testing mileage the German has accumulated over two days demonstrates a good step forward in reliability for Mercedes.
Nico began the day with a series of exploratory runs on the intermediate Pirelli tyre on a track that was damp for much of the morning following overnight rain. On a dry track in the afternoon, Nico continued to familiarise himself with the KERS system whilst completing set-up comparisons over longer runs.
“It was interesting running with the intermediates this morning and, although the warm-up is tricky, we definitely improved our understanding of the tyres,” said Rosberg. “Our long runs this afternoon included some aero work in preparation for our next upgrade package before going into lower-fuel, new-tyre running at the end of the day.
“We made good progress in understanding the car and the tyres, and the reliability was solid once again. Overall, I’ve enjoyed two positive and productive days here in Barcelona.”
Michael Schumacher will be in the car tomorrow for the fourth and final day of this Barcelona test.
