Al Harthy Happy With First Snetterton 300 Run

1 Mins read

Ahmad Al Harthy enjoyed a successful first test around the Snetterton 300 circuit during the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championships official Media Day. In his first chance to test himself against his 2011 rivals, he ended the day seventh overall and the fastest of the Pro-Am 1 class runners.

The 29 year old is preparing for his second season in the Carrera Cup and is running for the Oman Air Racing Team. In the morning session he set the sixth best time of 1m 52.268s, leading Pro-Am 1 by 0.4 seconds. He improved this in the afternoon session with a 1m 51.057s lap in his new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, ending the day just 0.8s off the top of the timesheets.

The Omani driver commented: “Both the team and I are very happy with how the day has gone, everything went well in each session. It was the first time this year all of the drivers were together so I'm pleased we were so competitive. We approached the day the right way, had a good set-up and produced some good times.

“The new track at Snetterton is really challenging, it has a very nice flow to it and I really enjoyed driving it today. There is a good mixture of fast and slow corners and I think it should provide some very interesting racing this year, I'm looking forward to going back there in the summer.”
