Jaime Alguersuari was in the Toro Rosso for the first time in this final pre-season test, completing 107 laps for the team as they collected more tyre data on a warm day in Barcelona.
Alguersuari took over the duty of testing new aero components from team-mate Sebastien Buemi, who has been in the STR6 for the first two days of this test session. The Spaniard did mainly long runs throughout the day, and a half-race simulation in the afternoon.
“The warmer track temperature was definitely useful for the teams and for Pirelli, in terms of preparing for Melbourne,” explained Chief Engineer, Laurent Mekies. “Also bearing in mind that the season gets underway soon, we have carried out a lot of pit stop practice runs, as clearly this will be a key element during races this season. In fact, over the past two days, we have completed a total of sixty pit stops.”
Alguersuari will be back in the car tomorrow for Toro Rosso‘s final day of pre-season testing.
