O’Young To Fight On Two Fronts In 2011

1 Mins read

Darryl O'Young has announced plans for a mammoth thirty-three race schedule for 2011 as he competes in both the FIA World Touring Car Championship and the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia series.

The Canadian-born Hong Kong driver competed in the WTCC for the time in 2010 and secured three independent class wins on his way to fourth place in the Yokohama Indepdents' Trophy.

He will remain with Bamboo Engineering for the upcoming campaign and is set to move into a brand new Chevrolet Cruze 1.6T from the second race weekend end of the year in Belgium.

O'Young commented: “After competing with a 3-year-old Chevrolet Lacetti in 2010, I have been upgraded to a highly competitive race car.  That, in itself, will be an amazing opportunity and I will give it my best to fight for podium results in the WTCC for all my supporters in Hong Kong and China.”

“The team all know how each other work and I have developed an excellent relationship with my engineer Nick Clipson, so we will all be attacking right from the first rounds.  I am very happy to remain with Bamboo Engineering for a second season.”

O'Young will receive continued backing from LKM and A-Ha Coffee as he  returns to the PCCA series looking to secure a third championship title after previously winning the series in 2006 and 2008.

O'Young added: “Competing in Asia and staying close to my race fans in Hong Kong and China is important to me. I want nothing less than a 3rd PCCA championship title.”
