Ocean Drivers Hopeful For Barcelona

1 Mins read

Ocean Racing Technology drivers Johnny Cecotto Jr and Kevin Mirocha are both hoping to score a good result at the second round of the GP2 season at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya this weekend.

Cecotto believes that his knowledge of the Spanish circuit will help him to show competitively.

“Having experience on this circuit makes me more confident,” said the Venezuelan driver. “It is a technical circuit I like very much and I think that we are well prepared to handle this challenge. I am confident that I will be able to fight for a place on the podium.”

Teammate Mirocha also feels more confident than he did for his rookie GP2 meeting at Istanbul two weeks ago.

“Tyre selection and management will be crucial to how the weekend goes and to the final result,” said the German racer. “I know the circuit and therefore I will be more ambitious than in Turkey. But the races will be long and you have to keep in mind that they won’t be decided at the first corner.”

Cautiousness at the first corner could well be a particular priority for Mirocha after he tangled with Esteban Gutierrez at Turn 1 in Turkey's feature race.
