2 Mins read

A bumper field of historic racing cars are set to take on the famous Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit in Kent next weekend for the annual Historic Sports Car Club meeting which this year will be a three day event for the first time.

Headlining the weekend will be the FIA Historic Formula One Championship where fans will get the chance to see Iconic cars from the 70's and 80's return to a circuit which used to feature on the formula one calendar in their day. With McLaren, Williams, Tyrrell and Brabham Marques set to feature on the GP loop it will be a must see event for many motorsport fans just a week before their modern day counterparts take to the tarmac at Silverstone.

Another series set to return to the Kent circuit is the powerful group C cars that used compete in the Brands Hatch 1000km back in the 1980's. Spectacular entries from Porsche, Jaguar, Nissan and Mercedes will be keen to do battle for honours  and put on a great display for spectators. The many feeder series were where numerous great drivers made their names before taking to the seat of a Formula One car and The Historic Superprix is set to feature classic Formula 2, Formula 3, Formula Junior and Fomula Ford which will provide entertaining wheel to wheel racing. However it is not just open wheel race fans who are catered for as GT cars will also be in attendance which will see the likes of Desire Wilson, John Cleland and Jackie Oliver take part in the 50th anniversary Jaguar E-Type celebration races to mark the beautiful car's milestone anniversary.

The legendary E-Type is celebrated in it's 50th year with many star names of racing.

Even more variety will be on show as Lotuses, Alfa Romeo's, MG's, Lancia's and more take part in the Road Sports races, whilst races for older sports racing cars of the 60's and 70's will see the likes of Lola's, Chevron's and Abarths. Add to this the close bumper to bumper racer of the Historic Touring Cars with a plethora of machines from big Ford Mustangs and Falcons to Mini Coopers, Lotus Cortinas and Hillman Imps it will be a packed weekend of fantastic classic racing to keep fans old and young entertained throughout.
