Sebastien Buemi had a difficult weekend at the German Grand Prix, both on the track, and in the stewards office.
On Saturday evening Buemi was relegated to the back of the grid after stewards found irregularities in a post-qualifying fuel sample. Toro Rosso attributed this to contamination from a cleaning product in the fuel pump system.
But then on Sunday, after the race, Buemi and Nick Heidfeld were called to the stewards office to explain a coming together on Lap 9 of the grand prix. The accident ended Heidfeld’s race and gave Buemi a puncture. The Swiss driver eventually finished fifteenth.
However, stewards decided that Buemi had caused the accident, and handed him a five-place grid penalty for this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix.
