Snoeks Shades Bortolotti To Top Second Practice At Brands Hatch

1 Mins read

Kelvin Snoeks was a surprise pacesetter in the Formula Two second practice session at Brands Hatch, as he beat championship leader Mirko Bortolotti by just two thousandths of a second.

Having topped the morning session Bortolotti went quickest soon after the session began, and stayed there after Alex Brundle went off at Sheen Curve and brought out a red flag. The lead regularly changed hands in a close session though Bortolotti was often found at the top.

Snoeks, who lies 11th in this year's standings with a best result of sixth, then moved ahead with 15 minutes remaining in the 45 minute session and was able to stay there until the checkered flag. Bortolotti tried to take top spot back but would have to settle for second.

Mihai Marinescu was third quickest, just 0.032s behind Snoeks. Jack Clarke was again the quickest of the British drivers in fourth place, just ahead of Ramon Pineiro and Tobias Hegewald. Jordan King was seventh, with Miki Monras, Benjamin Lariche and Thiemo Storz completing the top ten runners.

Championship contender Christopher Zanella was again off the pace, this time ending up in P14.

Free practice two results:

1. Kelvin Snoeks, 1:17.568s
2. Mirko Bortolotti, +0.002s
3. Mihai Marinescu, +0.032s
4. Jack Clarke, +0.281s
5. Ramon Pineiro, +0.297s
6. Tobias Hegewald, +0.300s
7. Jordan King, +0.400s
8. Miki Monras, +0.416s
9. Benjamin Lariche, +0.472s
10. Thiemo Storz, +0.814s
