James Sutton was the top finisher of the seven Porsche Carrera Cup GB drivers taking part in the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup race at Silverstone, the race supporting the 2011 British Grand Prix.
It was Sutton and Team SAS/Redline team-mate Michael Meadows who used their previous experience of the race well to finish eleventh and thirteenth respectively in the 26 car field. Sutton challenged former Supercup champion Patrick Huisman and 2011 title contender Sean Edwards for a top ten finish, while Meadows gained four place during a strong race.
Next up from the GB crews were Sam Tordoff and Benji Hetherington, the duo driving excellent races in their first experience of the Supercup. Tordoff drove up from twentiefth to finish fifteenth, with Hetherington one place behind, the duo finished ahead of established Supercup drivers Allesando Zampedri and Mathias Lauda.
Pro-Am1 star Ahmad Al Harthy didn't enjoy a great race, being sidelined on the opening lap with a mechanical woe, while Pro-Am2 racers Keith Webster and Andrew Shelley came home 23rd and 24th.
