MSVR Issue Statement Over Ben Gautrey Crash

1 Mins read

It has been confirmed that Superstock 600 rider Ben Gautrey has died of injuries sustained during the series' race at Cadwell Park.

A statement from series organisers MSVR describes the 18-year-old falling just before the Mountain Section of the track on the opening lap before being hit by the two riders immediately following him.

The race was immediately stopped and Gautrey was treated on the trackside by the BSB Medical Team for serious head and chest injuries. Further attempts to resuscitate the rider were made at the circuits medical centre, but tragically they were unsuccessful.

The full circumstances of the accident are being investigated by the MCRCB and the Coroners' office.

Stuart Higgs, British Superbike Series Director said; “I am so desperately sad that Ben died from the injuries he sustained at Cadwell Park. He was a really super young guy on his debut season at National level showing plenty of promise having won the Thundersport GB Moto450 Championship the previous year. It was entirely fitting that Ben Wilson was able to dedicate his Supersport win to Ben.”
