Sauber Enjoy Productive Friday in Italy

1 Mins read

Sauber drivers Sergio Perez and Kamui Kobayashi completed 67 and 66 laps respectively over the two 90-minute Friday practice sessions at Monza today and ended a productive day for the team eighth and ninth on the timesheets.

The only downside of the day for the Hinwil-based team was when Kobayashi stopped out on track due a transmission problem on his very last lap of the day.

“For me this was a very positive day,” said Perez. “Actually it was better than I expected, which is good news. When I was on new soft tyres the track was a bit dirty, so this makes me hope I can improve in qualifying. My car feels well balanced, especially with the soft tyres, and also on long runs.”

Kobayashi is not quite as happy with the balance of his car but, nevertheless, is looking forward to the remainder of the weekend. “Having stable weather and track conditions was very useful today, and enabled us to do proper set-up work in both sessions,” explained the Japanese driver. “For me the car isn't perfect yet, but I can see that we have the potential to improve the balance and the lap time. I'm looking forward to tomorrow.”
