Jonas Gelzinis Celebrating His Pro-Am1 Success With His Team

Jonas Gelzinis has become the first Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion of 2011 to be crowned, the Lithuanian racer picking up the Pro-Am1 crown.

The opening race of the Brands Hatch weekend saw Juta Racing's Gelzinis take his tenth Pro-Am1 win, giving him the class crown with three races to run. The 23 year old joined the Carrera Cup last season, finishing second in Pro-Am1 and returned this year with the family-run Juta team, ultimately going one better.

Gelzinis said: “I have really enjoyed the season. I have not always been as consistent as I would like to be, but I have good speed. Nurburgring was one of my best races because I had never driven on the track before. I have one more target now and that is to overtake Richard Plant for fifth in the overall standings.”

Looking ahead to 2012, Gelzinis added: “Next year I want to come back and join the Pro category and fight for the championship.”
