Jean-Eric Vergne, who was confirmed as runner-up of this season’s Renault World Series last weekend, will drive for Toro Rosso during Free Practice 1 in Korea on Friday.

The Frenchman, who is part of the Red Bull Junior Driver programme, will replace Jaime Alguersuari in the STR6 for the ninety-minute session on Friday morning.

He sit out the Indian Grand Prix whilst both Toro Rosso race drivers get the maximum time to acclimatise to the brand new circuit, but will also drive during FP1 in Abu Dhabi and Brazil.

The 21-year-old will be assessed during these sessions as to whether he is a potential replacement for either Alguersuari or Sebastien Buemi at the team, but is also in direct competition with talented Australian rookie Daniel Ricciardo, who has been placed in a  race seat at HRT.
