Sunoco Rolex 24 at Daytona Challenge winner Felipe Nasr will test with Michael Shank Racing at this weekend's Roar Before The 24 test as the Brazilian prepares to race in the 24 Hours (January 28-29) itself. During the three day test Nasr will drive a Ford-Riley Daytona Prototype.
Shank's Ohio-based team has been one of the most consistent in the Roles Series, scoring podiums in every season since joining the championship in 2004. The team took its maiden win in the championship in 2006 at Miller Motorsports Park – a year that also included their highest finish in the Rolex 24 – second. Their record at the 24 Hours also includes the fourth garnered last year and a sweep of the front row in qualifying for the 2008 event.
The Roar Before The 24 test is the final collective test for the Rolex Series before the week of the 24 Hours and will give Nasr further opportunity to familiarise himself with the sportscar course at Daytona International Speedway after he topped both days of an unofficial test in December.
“We were impressed with not only the immediate speed that Felipe showed in the car, but also his disciplined approach to the test last month,” said team owner Mike Shank. “We are looking forward to having him test with Michael Shank Racing this week. The Sunoco Daytona Challenge has continued to develop, getting stronger every year and Felipe is a great demonstration of the talent that the program is attracting.”
