Lloyd Preparing For Goodwood And Supercup Debut

2 Mins read

Porsche Carrera Cup GB race-winner Daniel Lloyd is preparing for a busy couple of weeks as he gets set to appear at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, before a week later making a guest appearance in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup at Silverstone.

The Supercup appearance will be the biggest race weekend of the Yorkshireman's career so far, with Lloyd to race in front of 100,000 home spectators on the same day as the Formula One British Grand Prix, an opportunity made possible by Porsche GB as part of the Scholarship prize he won in November.

Before that though, Lloyd has another high-profile engagement for Porsche GB, having been confirmed as a representative of the manufacturer at the world famous Festival of Speed. As well as representing Porsche on the Michelin UK stand, he will be piloting his Porsche 911 race car up the Goodwood Hill. Lloyd will run in the 'Modern Endurance Racers' class, alongside the likes of Tom Kristensen, Allan McNish, Michael Bartels and Bernd Schneider.

The 20 year old said: “These next two weeks are going to be the best of my life by a mile. Goodwood this weekend is going to be massive, I'm really looking forward to it, but racing in the Supercup at the British Grand Prix…it really doesn't get much better than that!

“Goodwood is a massive event. Not just in Britain but around the world, so to be taking part on behalf of Porsche and have the chance to drive my race car up the hill really is a dream come true and a fantastic opportunity.

“When I first saw the list of names in my class for the hillclimb, I had to pinch myself – there really are some true legends. It's a massive honour for me to have been invited and I'm looking forward to meeting as many people as possible. Hopefully I might have chance to have a look round as well!”

“Being part of a Formula One weekend is going to be really special, it's not something we expected but I'm aiming to make the most of every second. There's going to be so much to learn so I want to take as much as I can from the experience, soak up the atmosphere and really enjoy it.

“It's an amazing opportunity, I really want to say a massive thank you to Porsche GB and all of my sponsors too [TNT Post, TSD, Creechurch Private Wealth, Propack, TPA Yorkshire] – without them we wouldn't be in the position to have this chance in the first place. To race against so many experienced guys in the Supercup is going to be huge for my development.”
