On The “Fast Track” Liam Venter Seeks Next Step

1 Mins read

Seventeen-year-old Liam Venter has set his sights on becoming Formula One’s next star. The South African, who has impressed in the Intersteps championship this year, is looking to move into Formula Renault or Formula Three in 2013.

He has the support of the Accelerate Development Driver programme, a management company that has links to several of the current Formula One teams.

An extensive winter testing programme is expected over the next few months before a decision on Venter’s next step in motorsport will be.

“Although Intersteps was a big jump from karting this year, it has been an excellent learning experience. I achieved several podium finishes against drivers with much more experience. My team, Falcon Racing, have done a great job and are keen to support me next year. I am delighted with my progress and very excited about my racing career,” he said about this year’s successful season.

“Having been involved in motorsport and Formula One for 30 years I have come across many talented young racing drivers from around the world. However, it is rare to find drivers with all the ingredients necessary to make it to the top – F1. Liam not only has the talent and speed, he has personality, intellect and his technical understanding is excellent,” Graeme Glew, director of ADD added.

“ADD fully believe we can fast track Liam to Formula 1 and we are very excited about his future.”
