1 Mins read

The company building the GT4 variant of the Toyota GT86 has announced that a first example of the new racecar has been purchased by a “British buyer”.

GPR Motorsport – who also brought a production version of the car to the race track for the first time in September’s Britcar 24 Hours also day there is strong interest from several other prospective GT86 GT4 owners.

“It is a driver new to GT racing,” said GPRM director Gary Blackham, “and he wishes to embark on a test and development programme in the opening months of 2013, learn some circuits and look at his options before committing to a championship.”

“We are very pleased by the level of interest being shown in the GT86, both from UK buyers and from those in mainland Europe, and we hope very much to be able to announce further sales in the coming weeks.”

The car, announced last month, is a more powerful version – producing around 350bhp – of the car that raced in the Silverstone endurance race running a production engine and gearbox to finish in the top ten overall – and third in class.

GPRM had previously said they had hoped for at least two examples of their new car racing in UK series in 2013, as well as further examples racing in Europe.
