Pirelli Launch 2013 Tyre Range

1 Mins read

Pirelli have today launched their new tyre range for the upcoming Formula 1 season, claiming to have ‘revolutionised’ the compounds on offer to the teams in 2013.

The headline difference is that all compounds are softer, with Pirelli claiming the they will reach peak operating temperature faster, and deliver lap times that are around 0.5 seconds faster than 2012.

This will make thermal degredation faster across the range and, along with a bigger performance gap between the different compounds – Pirelli suggest 0.5 seconds, this should encourage overtaking and at least two pit stops per race.

Finally, the hard compound will now have orange writing on its side-walls, a big contrast to the ‘silver’ that was on these tyres last year, which was difficult for fans to make out from the grandstands.
