Pirelli Announce Tyre Compounds for Opening Four Races of 2013

1 Mins read

Pirelli have announced the tyre compounds that they will be providing for teams at the opening four races of the upcoming 2013 F1 season.

For the opening race, at Albert Park in Melbourne, the Italian tyre company will be bringing their PZero White medium tyre and the PZero Red supersoft tyre. It will be the first time that the softest tyre from the range has been brought to the race in Australia and Pirelli are hoping that the gap in compound choice will give a good performance gap between the cars of different tyres.

One week later, in Malaysia, the PZero Orange hard tyre will be making its season debut, partnering the PZero White. The two hardest compounds in the range will be needed for the abrasive surface of the Sepang track.

For the hard wear expected at the third race in China, the PZero White tyre will be back, this time alongside the PZero Yellow soft tyre. In Bahrain, race four, it will be the PZero Orange and PZero Yellow compounds on offer to the teams,

At each race, a driver will receive six sets of the harder compound and five sets of the softer tyre. The Cinturato Green (four sets per weekend) and Blue (three sets) will also be on hand at each race should it rain.
