Young Driver AMR will return to international motorsport at the opening round of the FIA World Endurance Championship at Silverstone.

The team has strengthened its ties with Aston Martin Racing, with the Aston Martin works team preparing and entering the #95 Vantage GTE for all eight rounds of the World Championship. An all-Danish line-up will see Christoffer Nygaard, Kristian Poulsen and Allan Simonsen behind the wheel in the GTE-Am class.

While the Silverstone 6 Hour race will mark the debut of the Aston Martin Racing/Young Driver AMR World Championship outfit, it will not be the first time that the “Danish Dynamite” trio have raced together. All three drivers were a part of the team’s assault on the iconic Le Mans 24 Hour race in 2012, and took part in an extensive pre-season test at Sebring shortly after the 12 Hours of Sebring event.

“We expect to fight for the podium at Silverstone and I would be disappointed if we don’t finish within the top-three in class this weekend.” said Allan Simonsen. “But we also have to consider that it’s the first event of the season and Aston Martin Racing is a big team which enters four cars in the World Championship, so clearly everything has to find it’s way at the first and also the second event of the season. But Silverstone is home of Aston Martin and also Aston Martin Racing, so this adds some extra motivation to give Aston Martin a good result on their home ground.”
