Team Proton Competition Ready For FIA WEC Race Despite Accident

1 Mins read

Team Proton Competition will take to the grid for tomorrows opening round of the FIA World Endurance Championship even though they did not take part in qualifying.

The #88 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR had a positive start to the weekend on Friday, running mid-field in the LMGTE Am class in both sessions.

This morning’s third Free Practice session saw mixed track conditions which caught out Christian Reid as he entered Copse corner, as a result the car was pitched off track and hit the barriers, heavily damaging the right-rear corner of the Porsche.

The damage caused by the accident meant that despite the best effort of the team the car would not take part in the afternoon qualifying session.

theCheckeredFlag.co.uk has spoken to the team who have told us the car will be in race condition for the morning to take up the last grid space and start the race.
