Michael Shank Racing will be looking to close out the 2013 Grand-Am season, and the current era of American Sportscar racing, on a high note as the series comes to a close at Lime Rock Park this weekend.
Gustavo Yacaman and Justin Wilson will both take their first laps around the Connecticut circuit in the #6 Ford-Riley, hoping to continue on the good form that Michael Shank Racing has shown at the track ever since Daytona Prototypes started racing there.
John Pew and Ozz Negri took second for Michael Shank Racing at Lime Rock last in 2011, following from a strong podium position for Brian Frisselle and Michael Valiante in 2010, the first year Daytona Prototypes took to the 1.5-mile circuit.
An early race incident saw any hopes of a podium hat-trick go out the window in 2012, forcing the team to come back from two laps down.
“Lime Rock can be a tricky little track, particularly with the traffic and of course with the short laps, pit strategy is crucial,” said team owner Mike Shank. “It will be a first time visit for Gus and Justin, but they should have no problem with it even though it is a very short weekend. It is an exciting time for the sport, and everyone is anxious to get going on 2014 so we’d like nothing better than to go out on a strong note with both our cars this weekend.”
