Cao Set For British F3 Graduation In 2014

1 Mins read

2013 Protyre Formula Renault ‘Autumn Cup’ vice-champion Hongwei Cao is planning to graduate into the revamped British Formula 3 International Series with Fortec Motorsport next season.

The 20 year old has competed in Formula Renault BARC for the past two seasons. He finished fourteenth in the points in 2012, before a marked improvement this season saw him take two pole positions, a maiden win at Rockingham and a top four championship finish.

Cao’s last track action was in the Autumn Cup earlier this month, the Chinese racer taking a second category race win en-route to second in the points.

“I’ve got enough experience from the past two years in the BARC championship now,” Cao told Motorsport News.

“At my age, I feel I’m ready to move up into F3. I’m excited to be there for the return of the championship and I believe I can make a good impression.”
