SEAT will continue to drive forward its motorsport heritage with the SEAT Leon Eurocup, a six-weekend customer racing series using the new Leon Cup Racer.
The Eurocup will start in May 2014, spanning six countries and offering substantial prize money to the winners.
“Motorsport is deeply embedded in our brand. SEAT has more than 40 years of history here. With the SEAT Leon Eurocup, we offer an interesting opportunity for our motivated customer teams and our enthusiastic fans all over Europe,” said Vice President of SEAT S.A. for Research and Development, Dr. Matthias Rabe.
“The Leon Cup Racer is an extremely high-performance race car. The new generation of the SEAT Leon provides an excellent basis for this, winning high praise from customers and motoring journalists alike.”
The star of the series, the SEAT Leon Cup Racer, is a car bred for motorsport, offering 325bhp, 400Nm of torque, a six speed-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox, operated from the steering wheel, and an extensive array of motorsport technology. A new front end has been designed for optimum aerodynamic effet and to maximise the airflow to the engine and brakes.
The car’s cost has already been set at €70,000 excluding VAT, with the first official orders accepted at the end of November, with deliveries expected around April 2014. The exact calendar for the Eurocup is expected to be defined over the next few weeks.
