Morgan Ends Maiden SEAT Season In Championship Top Five

1 Mins read

Alex Morgan has brought his maiden SEAT Leon Eurocup season to a close in fifth place in the championship standings after posting a top six double in the season finale in Barcelona.

The former Renault UK Clio Cup vice-champion has enjoyed an impressive first campaign with Baporo Motorsport, securing eight top six finishes over the course of the fourteen race season.

The Welshman carded a podium breakthrough on home soil at Silverstone in June, before returning to the top three with a maiden victory at the Nurburgring.

At Catalunya this past weekend, Morgan qualified tenth in the 33 car field before moving forwards in both races for fifth and sixth place finishes.

“What a year it’s been! I’ve had a huge amount of fun racing in the SEAT Leon Eurocup. The Baporo Motorsport team has been fantastic, and to compete in a field of 30-plus evenly-matched cars and come out fifth overall is a brilliant achievement,” said Morgan.

“I’m so pleased with the result, particularly to have had a win and a podium finish in my first year. All but one of the drivers that finished ahead of me in the standings also raced in the 2014 series and so I feel that I’ve done well to learn the car and a load of new circuits so quickly.

“I’ve had amazing support from my family, Infinity Sports Management and my team throughout. Let’s see what next year brings!”
