Former single-seater racer Alex Walker has signed up to compete in the upcoming Michelin Clio Cup Series ‘Autumn Cup’ with front-running outfit Scuderia Vittoria.
Not only will the Oldham-based racer be making his tin-top racing debut, the former karter will also be making his return to motorsport after two years away.
Walker finished second overall in the 2011 InterSteps Championship, whilst also making a couple of appearances in the Formula Renault 2.0 UK Championship.
The 18 year old has conducted a testing programme with SV during recent months, and is hoping to use the Autumn Cup as a platform on to a full Clio campaign in 2014.
“It was a great disappointment to have to spend the last couple of years away from motorsport,” said Walker. “I’ve recently completed an intensive testing programme with SV and I now have a fantastic opportunity to reignite my career. I’ve taken massive strides forwards and adapted my driving technique to suit the front-wheel-drive Clio Cup cars with the help of Danny (Buxton) and feel ready for the challenges that lay ahead.”
