Foust “Excited” Ahead of World RX Campaign

American superstar Tanner Foust has expressed his excitement ahead of his four round stint in the inaugural season of the FIA World Rallycross Championship this year.

Foust is set to compete in a Marklund Motorsport-prepared VW Polo RX Supercar this season in the UK and Finland, returning to the scenes of his two European Rallycross wins last season, as well as Canada and Turkey.

The ten-time X Games medal winner has been a rallycross regular since the sport was introduced to America in 2010, and is excited to be competing on the world stage for the first time.

With so many new competitors this year it should be pretty awesome,” said the Top Gear USA presenter. “Between filming, and my other racing commitments, I couldn’t make the full World RX season this year but I’m really excited about the rounds I can do.

“Canada and Turkey are both new stops for everybody and I like that, it will come down to who can learn it the quickest.  I have two wins at the Lydden Hill race circuit, and there’s something special about going for a hat-trick, plus I couldn’t miss a chance to race in Scandinavia which seems to be the spiritual home of the sport.”

With the World Championship status has come a number of exciting driver entries into the series, including reigning Global Rallycross champion Topi Heikkinen, 2003 WRC champion Petter Solberg and 1997 Formula 1 champion Jacques Villeneuve, with Foust is looking forward to fighting it out with them on track.

“The regular players will be the ones to beat I think: (Petter) Solberg, Baby Blue, Hansen, Liam (Doran) and Timur (Timerzyanov) amongst others,” he added. “I think it’s going to be exciting to face my former team-mates, including Topi (Heikkinen) who won the championship in the U.S last year. And meeting Ken Block in the World RX of Turkey is going to be exciting.”
