Mats And Emil Öhman Confirm Euro RX Campaigns

1 Mins read

Swedish Uncle and Nephew duo Mats and Emil Ohman will compete in the 2014 FIA European Rallycross Championship at the wheel of a pair of Citroen DS3 Supercars.

Mats Ohman will compete in a specially adapted Supercar with custom-made hand and arm controls, after a snowmobile accident back in 1998 left him paralyzed from the waist down.

The 49 year old took up rallycross following the incident, and claimed the runners-up spot in the Swedish Rallycross Championship.

Both drivers have tasted success in Snowcross in the past, Mats is a former seven-time Swedish champion while Emil is a former double world champion.

“This year will be awesome,” enthused Mats. “When the opportunity came along from Hansen, it sounded like the right time to take on the challenge of a big Championship again.”

“It will be so much fun trying my wings in World RX,” added Emil. “Rallycross is something new and I will have to adapt as well as I can, but I am sure it will be great fun and I can’t wait to get started.”

Emil will contest five rounds this year, in Great Britain, Norway, Belgium, Germany and Italy, while Mats will do those five plus Finland, Sweden and France.

More information on Mats’ specially adapted DS3 Supercup, plus images of his unique hand controls, can be found in a special feature on RallycrossWorld.com.
