Following on from his fourth place in the opening round of the Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship in Barbados, Nelson Piquet Jr. continues his exploration in to the world of Rallycross this weekend as he takes part in the RX Lites class at the second round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship.

Race 1 was won by Mitchel DeJong, who is taking part in the Lites series that is part of the Red Bull GRC package, the 16 year old stunned the series regulars en route to victory while Piquet Jr struggled to make the transition from Supercar to RX Lites, finishing seventh place.

“It’s a harder transition than I thought it would be from Supercars to Lites,” explained the Brazilian. “I’ve been having to adapt. In terms of learning, it’s a good thing. When you have a car with more power, it’s easier to mask things. With these cars, you have to drive perfectly and you can’t make a mistake or you lose a lot of time.”

The second race wouldn’t prove to be any better for the Brazilian as he finished in eighth. By the third race though something clicked and Piquet Jr had everything dialled in as he mastered the Lydden Hill circuit to take third place ahead of DeJong.
