Tanner Foust put the disappointment from last weekend‘s opening round of the Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship behind him today as he took two race victories on his way to second place overall at the end of the first day.

The first race of the day saw Foust dominate the race as he finished over 2 seconds faster that second placed Jerome Grosset-Janin; This result would see him in fourth place for the heat.

Petter Solberg was the only man to stand in the way of Foust taking the perfect round; Despite Foust finishing the race in first, Solberg was around three tenths of a second faster on his final time.

“The car is great to drive,” enthused Foust who hosts the US version of Top Gear.“The fact just tenths of a second are separating the top ten after four laps is unbelievable and just shows the incredible depth of the field there is here – I feel fortunate to be in second spot.”

The drama wasn’t quite finished when the chequered flag came out though as on his return to the paddock Foust’s car would develop an engine fire, similar to the one that team-mate Anton Marklund suffered in the morning session. Thankfully for the American the fire was quickly extinguished and all damage should be fixed for the action tomorrow.
