Rao Secures Maiden F3 Victory In Race Three at Rockingham

1 Mins read

Fortec Motorsport’s Matt Rao took a dominant victory in the third and final race of the weekend in the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series qt Rockingham.

Rao’s race was made all the more easier on the first lap when race one and two winner Sam MacLeod outbreaked himself down into the Dean hairpin, resulting in his Fortec Motoraport Dallara leaving the track and grinding to a terminal hault.

With MacLeod failing to make it 3 out of 3 wins for the weekend, the job was left down to the remaining two Fortec drivers Rao and Martin Cao; the latter soon disposing of Double R’s Camren Kaminsky and the Carlin of Alice Powell, and hense scampered away from the ensuing pack to form an elongated and deverstating Fortec one-two.

The battle for third proved race-long, with remaining runners Andy Chang, Kaminsky, Li Zhi Cong and Powell running in close formation for much of the race.

Powell’s race soon came to an end however, with a sick sounding Dallara F308 bring her into the pit lane two laps shy of the chequeres flag, which was taken by Rao, Cao, Chang, and Kaminsky and Li who were promoted following Powell’s demise.
