Jeanney Joins Monster Energy World RX Team For Sweden

1 Mins read

European Vice-Champion Davy Jeanney is set to join the Monster Energy World RX Team for round five of the  FIA World Rallycross championship in Sweden.

Jeanney took part in the second round of the World Rallycross at Lydden Hill and has been looking for further outings since.

“I am very excited to be getting behind the wheel for another world championship round,” said Jeanney. “Lydden Hill just made me more hungry to race, and when the opportunity with Liam Doran’s team came about, I couldn’t say no.

Jeanney is no stranger to the Swedish track and in 2013 was on pace in the European Rallycross Championship only to lose out with a technical problem.

“Racing in Sweden is always a great experience. In 2013 I was very fast on the first day – and was leading the standings before a technical problem forced me out of the competition. Of course I want to make up for this year, and with the Monster Energy World RX Team Citroen DS3 I think I will have the right car to do this. Naturally I am looking forward to racing in a Citroen again as well – it’s a great car and suits my driving style well.

Talking of his team-mate for the upcoming round Jeanney said he was looking forward to learning from Liam Doran.

“Liam is a strong competitor, and being his team mate for a round of the championship will be a great experience. I’m sure there will be a lot to learn, but I am confident to get a good result.”

The British Bomb added: “Davy is a very fast and experienced driver, and I’m really pleased to be able to give him the opportunity to race. Sweden feels a lot like unfinished business for me, because we were really punished last year loosing the engine on the first day.

“Having said that, our cars have gone well there, and last year Andreas [Bakkerud] took the win when he was in the team. It’s going to be an exciting weekend for sure.”
