Team Peugeot-Hansen Targeting Podium Places In Finland

1 Mins read

Team Peugeot-Hansen head in to this weekend at Kouvola, Finland, confident that they will improve on their fourth place in the teams championship.

Having shown great pace in the first three rounds of the FIA World Rallycross Championship both Timur Timerzyanov and Timmy Hansen have proved they have what it takes to be at the sharp end of the grid but are still searching for the elusive win.

With the team just 21 points behind second place in the championship both drivers will be flat out in their Peugeot 208 WRX’s this weekend to secure as many points as possible.

“The track in Finland is a special place for me” says Timerzyanov, “For me it is similar to Norway and Sweden in that it goes up and down, there are a few jumps there and some tricky corners. It’s pretty technical.”

Timerzyanov holds fond memories of the track, “I won my first European Championship title there in 2012 and won that race when it was very wet. I’m looking forward to the race, Team Peugeot-Hansen are getting stronger all the time.”

“Every time we go on track we make improvements” explained team-mate Hansen. “The test before Norway was good, and we made a big step forward during the event. The car is becoming one of the best I have driven.

“Driving a rallycross car on the absolute limit is never easy, but the 208 is really allowing me to do that. The circuit in Finland offers all the things a rallycross track should and techincal circuits like this make the gap between the fast and slow guys much bigger, that should play into our hands too.”

Team principal Kenneth Hansen expecting a strong performance in Finland, and is looking forward to hopefully kick-starting a chain of results over the next few weekends. “We are starting three events in a row in Finland, but as a team we are strong and we have a lot of experience so I am not worried about that.

“The track in Finland has suited us really well in the past, hopefully we can get two cars to the final and fight for a podium, the team deserve it for the hard work they have put in together with Red Bull, Total, Oreca and all of our brilliant partners.”
